the Coronation of the Oba of Benin commenced amidst pump and pagentry

Yesterday, the good people of Edo state came out in their numbers to felicitate with the Crown Prince of the Benin Kingdom, Prince Ehenede Erediawa, the "Edaiken nu Uselu", as he officially leaves Uselu to commence the coronation rituals that will see him ascend the throne as the 39th Oba of the Benin Kingdom.

The dense crowd which completely closed up the popular Uselu Lagos express road, defiled the heavy down pour which many feared would disrupt the event, but the rain stop just before the procession began. The crown prince was officially escorted by the Uselu chiefs, members of Owebo, palace warriors and other palace stewards, subjects, as well as friend and well wishers. The Uselu chief later withdrew after handing the crown prince over to the Oredo chief in continuation of the procession.

The procession made a brief stop over by the sacred palm tree at Uselu were he pereformed the ceremonial climbing of the sacred tree. the procession then climax at Urhopkpota were the crown Prince is expected to stay the next three days
