APC to suspend Spokesman, Timi Frank

The zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday set up Solomon Edoja-led five-man disciplinary committee to consider a petition written against the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank.
The committee, which has Ben Davidson Opute as Secretary, has Dr Wilson Samuel, Dan Akpan, and Barr. Tony Odey as members. The committee was inaugurated by the APC National Vice Chairman, South-South, Prince Hilliard Eta.
The Chairman of the Committee, Edoja, who fielded questions from journalists after the inauguration, said their job was to consider a petition from Mr Aneka Akpabio, against Comrade Frank who, he added, would be invited for fair hearing.
“We are also going to invite the petitioner because the legal procedure is that you have to hear from both sides before you can reach a decision. We are going to subject our recommendations to the zonal executive committee for ratification,” he said.
Edoja said going by Article21 (B) Sub-section 2 of the party, a committee should be constituted within seven days once petitions had been received. He said the task of the committee, which would be an open session, would be carried out within two weeks.
“The APC wants to tell the world that the party is supreme. Our constitution is supreme. If there are infractions, we have to follow due process,” he added.
Daily Trust learnt that the inauguration of the committee had fueled speculations of an attempt to suspend Frank from the APC National Working Committee (NWC) for his consistent calls for the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun over what he called his incompetence and failure to address the crises rocking the party.
On Tuesday, Frank said that he would pay courtesy visits to President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as part of his efforts to rescue the party from collapse. He added that he would also visit the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara of the House of Representatives.
Others to visit include Chief Bisi Akande, Dr Ogbonaya Onu, Prince Tony Momoh, and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Rochas Okorocha, the governor of Imo State as well as APC governors.
