It is a sacrilege for me to demand or receive apology from my King - Ms Okoebor tells Oshiomhole, reconciles with Onojie of Uromi

Ms Betty Okoebor, the woman in the middle of the crisis between the  Onojie of Uromi and the outgoing governor of Edo State,  Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday caused a mild drama when she told the governor that It is a sacrilege for her to demand or receive apology from her King as she reconciles with Onojie of Uromi. She posited that she has said that she did not request for any apology and does not seek any apology from the Onojie of Uromi.

In a personal letter signed and address to the State governor, a copy of which was made available to SILNETNEWS, Ms Okoebor said she has since reconciled with the Onojie and she does not require the governor to humiliate the Onojie of Uromi on her behalf.

The letter read reads thus; "Your Excellency,
note that as a loyal daughter of the Throne of the Onojie of Uromi, it will be sacrilegious for me to demand or receive apology from His Majesty, under any circumstances. Rather the custom of our people behoves on me to reconcile myself with the Throne. I have since done this accompanied by my elders and family members."

Ms Okoebor warned the governor not to drag her name or her family name in the governor's desperate bid to embarrass the Royal Stool of Uromi.

She continues... "Your Excellency, ...let history not record me and my family as having directly or indirectly caused embarrassment to our Royal Stool."

While this may have answer  to the propaganda  on the social media that the Onojie allegely went to beg the woman, some quarter of our corenpondence saw the move and a political charade to save the face of the Ojuromi of Uromi kingdom.

When contacted for comment,  Chief Adia of Uromi, the National President of Uromi Development Association, said that "It is a taboo for our Onojie to apologize to anyone."

Whether the Onojie went to apologise or not one thing many have agreed to is that under a constitutional democracy kings should not go around like thugs slapping whoever they will. It will be recall that a western monarch who publicly beat and naked his wife had to face the wrath of the law.
