Just few minutes ago, Ambassador Ehenede Erediawa was officially crowned as Oba Ewuare II, the 40th Oba of the great Benin Kingdom. in a lavished occasion which is currently ongoing at the Oba Erediawa Squere in Benin City. Through some divine predestination, the coronation of the Oba also coincided with his 69th birthday

it will be recalled that the state government had earlier declared today a public holiday across the state to honour the great Monarch who many believe will revolutionize the traditional institution in the state.

To the amazement and admiration of all Edo sons and daughters, His Royal majesty picked the name Oba Ewuare 11, Ewuare Ogidigan the Great.
Ewuare N'Ogidigan is arguably the greatest Oba in Edo history. He planted the first Emotan tree before about 2 trees after, Akenzua II commissioned the statue. He started the Ewere ceremony and the Igue Festival to commemorate his third year of peaceful reign on the throne. He conquered 201 towns and villages and expanded the kingdom. He restructured Edo governance. He named the kingdom Edo. May Ewuare II similarly achieve greatness. Oba gha tu Okpere! Ise!
