Good Morning sir, let
get to meet you
Good morning, my name
is Guider Marc Anthony, a 10,000+ guider in MMM
Would you consider
yourself as someone who fully understands the system?
Of course for one to become a guider he should understand the
ideology, he should be someone who understand the system very well. Who can
defend the system and accurately explain its ideology.
What is your perception
about MMM?
MMM is a system that have come to uplift the financial burden
of Nigerians, it is not just in Nigeria alone, by the last record we have it in
118 countries already. Some weeks ago Ghana and few other countries came in we
are still expecting more.
MMM which means Mavrodi Mondial Movement, is an organization
that has come to put smile on people’s face, it is an organization that has
come to help people to be self reliant, to be able to cater for their needs,
and persons they cater for.
MMM is an organization that has come to stay no matter the pressure
and persecution it is experiencing, MMM will never succumb to it because the
system has helped a lot of people, today
MMM is now almost a year in Nigeria, it came in November 2015 and this
month will make it one year in Nigeria and so far I can categorically tell you
that MMM has helped thousands of people, when I joined MMM in April this year,
we were just about 22,000 persons in MMM but right now we are more than a
million and a lot of persons has benefited from it, I personally has benefited
a lot from it.
Before now I could hardly boast of a million naira in my
account, but today I can boast of more than ten million Naira in my account
just because of MMM, which is a contribution from one person to another, everybody
making contributions to themselves and helping each other. It is not an illegal
scheme were you have to do some dubious act, it’s a simple contribution from
one person to another person and they contribute back to you.
The Managing Director,
Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, (NDIC)
Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim has described MMM as a wonder bank and that a
committee has been set up to see to the end of the scheme which he called
“fraudulent”
That is a wrong perception about MMM, it is not a wonder
bank, you don’t store your money there, rather it a contribution program and
then someone is also contributing back to you, that’s how it works. MMM does
not have a central account were you make payment into, you are only
contributing to other participant in the community. It a normal thing that we
do locally, even in the office, in the street, everybody makes contribution and
at the end of the month someone makes contribution to you. Even large organizations
do it, some call it corporative, that is how MMM works too just that MMM is now
doing it at a larger scale. Helping everybody to be financially free, to have
what they need. It does not control people or pressure anyone or try to enslave
anyone as the capitalist would do.
I think they are scared
of the system because they cannot hijack it like the banks for personal gains
not that they are really concern about the Masses. Which one thing can Alhaji
Umaru Ibrahim point out that he has done for his immediate community or
Nigerians at large to help ameliorate the pains of the current economic
recession?
Yesterday during
plenary, the House of Representatives mandated the EFCC to arrest the promoter
of MMM what is your reaction to this?
The truth of the
matter is that there is no particular person you can say is in charge of MMM, even
those who manage the system are also participant in it, and they provide and
get help like every other participant. you cannot come an tell someone who want
to make contributions to me not to, I give money to my younger ones and my
friend, I also give money to charity
homes is that illegal? That is what the idea of MMM is, everyone contribution
to themselves, for example I need money to assist myself but I don’t have it
and someone comes and contribute 500,000 to me, the person is just assisting
me, then I also see someone in need and I assist the person, so for the House of Rep to ignorantly say MMM is a wonder bank is completely wrong
and uninformed, because you don’t put your money in a central account in MMM, rather you contribute to other
participant who are in need of it and when you are also in need of it someone
also comes and contribute to you that is how it works
What is the current
membership strength of MMM in Nigeria?
in April this year we were about 22,000 persons but now in
November it is over a million, that will show you how MMM has help a lot of
people. If the scheme has been fraudulent or people has been losing their
money, nobody will be coming into it but because they saw that it has helped
others and they too want to be helped that is why they are coming into the
system because they want to be financially free, it’s not like wonder banks
that came up some year back, MMM is totally different from that. MMM organizes
a contribution scheme were every participant contribute to each other, you
don’t pay any money to MMM or in to any account in Nigeria or Abroad, MMM is purely
Nigerians contributing to Nigerians. There is no account called MMM account or
MMM bank, what MMM does is just to organized the community so that everyone
will be able to make their contribution and then get back in return
As a 10,000+ guider has
there been any record of someone who has lost his money? Because the National Assembly
said people are complaining.
That is also wrong, like the organization will tell you, you
use your spare money, and money that you know you are not immediately in need
of is what you should contribute to the community. Let say a neighbor comes to
my house in need of assistance and in my account I have 200,000 and I need to
use 150,000 that day, it means I have spare 50,000 from which I can provide
assistance to my neighbor, That is the idea behind MMM. When they said people are complaining, it is
laughable because there has not been a record of anyone who has ever lost its
money except if the person its self is fraudulent, MMM will tell you to have
just one account, and there are some person who will want to dubiously open
multiply account, MMM is blocking such persons to sanitize the community. So
that everyone can equally benefit. So if there is anyone who claims to have
lost money to the system, such person or persons should come up and prove how
they lost the money. There has never been any record of anyone who has lost
money in MMM.
Apart from blocking
multiple account what are the measures in place to protect participant from
fraudsters?
MMM has gone far, they keep upgrading everyday just to make
sure everyone is carried along. MMM have several rules. Assuming someone makes
payment and before his time elapse, the person now goes against any of the
rules, the person is blocked but MMM ensures his money is paid back to him, because
if he must come back to the community he must start all over again. So if
anyone is block it is because the person must have gone against the rules of
the community. The rules is what protect the community, the rules are there to
checkmate every one and ensures everyone is protected.
From ration one to ten
what is the average amount each person contribute to the system.
Nigeria is a very big country and we have many people with
deep pocket and deeper pocket but in the community you are free to contribute
any amount, there are some who contribute 20,000 Naira as you rightly noted
while there are other who could afford a million Naira, whatever amount you
contribute even if it is 1000 Naira you are sure to get your 30% with your
capital
How long will MMM last?
From the look of thing MMM has come to stay, although there
are some bad eggs and persecution from various bodies, MMM will not crashed if
the participant are not scared. They should continue to provide and get help,
they should be confident in the system because they are not doing anything
illegal, MMM has not broken any Nigeria rule and has not stolen any bodies
money, as long as people continue to provide help, people will also continue to
get help. In the next two to three years we are sure that MMM will continue to
stand as long as participant do not panic or stop providing help, the system
will continue to stand because it has help a lot of people. There are many persons,
who could not boast of one meal a day but today the story is different. From
the market woman who could hardly makes ends meet to the chief executive who
just cannot secure a loan everyone is getting support to finance their project
Am encouraging participant not to allow fear creep into the
system, or panic because of rumours, they haven’t done anything illegal and
they have not broken any rules they are only making contributions to themselves.
What do you think will
happen if the government move to close the MMM website?
It not possible, because everybody has right to the internet
and the constitution guarantees freedom of association
But the government
control…?
The government can only tell people not to go into a
particular site, we have Mojo site, site where they do dirty act, why have they
not closed it? Even site where they do gambling why they have not closed it,
because MMM is helping a lot of persons they want to stop it. I think Nigerians
will revolt, if any such move occurs. It there is anything logical a government
should to at a time like this, it will be to ensured the site stays open and
participant are continuously provided information to guide their choice,
standing against the scheme will grind the country to a halt.
